Introduction
US Domestic Biological/Chemical Weapons Facilities:
Fort Detrick, Vigo, Dugway, Horn Island, Plum Island, Pine Bluff, Edgewood Arsenal, the NAMRU fleet.
There are several things you want to know about the biological/chemical warfare facilities in America.
The Nonsensical Cloak of “Medical Research”
Most Western countries, but the US in particular, take great pains to label their biological weapons facilities as medical research institutions, when of course they are no such thing. The US military presents its main biological warfare installation at Fort Detrick (AMRIID) as “The United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases“, which might lead the gullible to believe this is a benign institution that treats measles and searches for a cure for rabies. And according to Wikipedia, the US Military’s Naval Medical Research Unit Indo Pacific, (NAMRU-2), is a biomedical research laboratory of the US Navy “established to study infectious diseases in Asia”. In the UK, the primary Frankenstein institution creating (and distributing) biological warfare pathogens is Porton Down, whose signs claim to be the “Porton Down Science Campus of Public Health England“. Such big lies.
These biological labs are aggressive in nature, with a mission to cause epidemics and not to prevent them. As I mentioned in an earlier Chapter, the propaganda on the “defensive” nature of US bio-weapons and on the US military’s eagerness to contribute to “Global Health Security” and its aim “to prevent avoidable epidemics“, is just nonsense. As one bit of documented evidence, the Vigo Ordnance Plant could produce one million anthrax bombs per month, and it was not very long ago that the US Army issued a tender for the outsourcing of pathogen production, stating that the tendering company “must have the ability and be willing to grow anthrax in 1,500-litre quantities”, and “must also be able to produce 3,000-litre batches” of unspecified other biological agents. Does that sound like medical research to you?
These military, CIA, educational (universities like Harvard), health (major hospitals), and institutional (Rockefeller, Ford, Carnegie) bio-weapons facilities are “researching” pathogens that seldom have more than 2 or 3 occurrences a year in the US (in a population of 330 million), items such as anthrax, Tularemia, Brucellosis, Q-fever, equine encephalitis, drug-resistant tuberculosis, exotic strains of flu, the SARS and MERS viruses, the Bubonic Plague, botulism, Ricin, EBOLA, hemorrhagic fever, and many more. The United States military extensively studied Q-fever as a potential biological warfare agent, with eventual standardization as agent OU. At Fort Detrick and the Dugway Proving Ground, human trials were conducted on to determine the median infective doses sand course of infection. The Deseret Test Center dispensed biological Agent OU with ships and aircraft, during Project 112 and Project SHAD. As a standardized biological weapon, it was manufactured in large quantities at Pine Bluff Arsenal, storing more than 5,000 gallons at one time. The virus that causes Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus, and other similar, were also extensively studied at Dugway and Plum Island because they can be easily transmitted by infected mosquitoes and cause debilitating central nervous system disorders. From Anthrax to weaponized mosquitoes, Dugway developed and applied America’s most experimental weaponry.
Reckless Negligence
Another important factor is that apparently all these installations – and there are around 220 of them in the continental US alone – are not only sloppy but seemingly reckless to the point of criminal negligence. Most readers are familiar with the 2019 shut-down of the bio-labs at Fort Detrick due to “irregularities” and escaped pathogens, but many hundreds of documented failures have occurred in recent years at many other academic, commercial, and federal government biological weapons laboratories that apparently operate without oversight. Many of these accidents involved deadly pathogens like anthrax, smallpox, H5N1, the Bubonic Plague, Q fever, Hantavirus and more. According to CDC researchers, the number of reported accidents involving lethal pathogens has been growing rapidly, with many of these involving the release of pathogens inside the labs, with the labs frequently requiring extensive decontamination. There have certainly been many illnesses as a result, and quite possibly many unreported deaths, with little of this news reaching the media. According to an article in the New York Times: [1]
“Lab workers at different sites accidentally jabbed themselves with needles contaminated by anthrax or West Nile virus. An air-cleaning system meant to filter dangerous microbes out of a lab failed, but no one knew because the alarms had been turned off. A batch of West Nile virus, improperly packed in dry ice, burst open at a Federal Express shipping center. Mice infected with bubonic plague and Q fever went missing, and workers exposed to Q fever, brucellosis and tuberculosis did not realize it until they either became ill or blood tests detected the exposure. In the recent past, dozens of CDC employees were exposed to live anthrax. In another case, a CDC lab accidentally contaminated a relatively benign flu sample with a dangerous H5N1 bird flu strain — and then shipped it to a lab at the Department of Agriculture. In yet another episode, vials of smallpox and other infectious agents were discovered in a government laboratory on the campus of the National Institutes of Health after being stored and apparently forgotten about 50 years ago.”
One prominent scientist said the accidents at the CDC were “very troubling“, but this is true on more than one level. The CDC website claims to be “the nation’s leading science-based, data-driven, service organization that protects the public’s health.” It is not immediately clear how playing with anthrax and shipping diseased mice and bubonic plague all over the world would be consistent with that objective. I will deal with this in more detail later, but it would seem that the US Military bio-weapons lab at Fort Detrick (USAMRIID) is the Nobel Prize winner for pathogen leaks, the CDC reporting that between 2005 and 2012, this institution suffered 1,059 incidents involving “theft, loss, or release outside of primary biocontainment barriers” of dangerous pathogens”. That is an average of about one incident every two days for nearly ten years, and this is only one installation of more than 200 in the US alone. Moreover, these are only the “accidental” releases; we will discuss later the thousands of deliberate ones.
An article in USA Today, stated:
“Vials of bioterror bacteria have gone missing. Lab mice infected with deadly viruses have escaped, and wild rodents have been found making nests with research waste. Cattle infected in a university’s vaccine experiments were repeatedly sent to slaughter and their meat sold for human consumption. Gear meant to protect lab workers from lethal viruses such as Ebola and bird flu has failed, repeatedly. A USA TODAY investigation revealed that hundreds of lab mistakes, safety violations and near-miss incidents have occurred in biological laboratories coast to coast in recent years.” [2]
The USA TODAY team identified “more than 200 of these high-containment lab facilities in all 50 states and the District of Columbia operated by government agencies, universities, and private companies. They are scattered across the country from the heart of New York City to a valley in Montana,” and at these labs USA Today discovered more than 20,000 pages of internal lab safety records and incident reports.
Yet Kenneth Berns, co-chair of a panel of advisers who examined biosafety at the CDC, Fort Detrick, and other federal labs, had the temerity to say that “The country’s best labs have robust safety programs“. And Marian Downing, president of the American Biological Safety Association, blithely told us, “I don’t think the public needs to be too concerned. There are multiple levels of checks and balances in place“. Lies like this should be punishable by flogging.
The Americans and the Jewish media have done their best to paint China as reckless or irresponsible in its management of biological labs, especially the country’s two BS-4 or L-4 facilities that perform research on the most lethal pathogens. But the facts are that China has had only one “leak” of a pathogen, in Beijing nearly ten years ago now. If I recall correctly, several persons became ill and one person died as a result. However, the US, the unquestioned world leader in recklessness related to biological weapons labs, heavily censors the information on its own accidents so no one will ever know the total of injuries and fatalities. China is described as “secretive“, but the facts are otherwise.
Biological Weapons and Vaccines
In stating their reasons for refusing to sign protocols on biological weapons, the Americans revealed something very important, arguing that “verification was not possible with any degree of confidence because of the dual-use nature of biotechnological materials and equipment, which makes it easy to divert legitimate facilities such as vaccine plants to illicit production.” [3] This is something that must be clearly understood by the general public: Vaccine production facilities are indistinguishable from bioweapon production facilities, and vaccines are indistinguishable from bioweapons. This may appear excessively sinister on first reading, but vaccines now seem to have become an accepted weapon in biological wars. These are not shooting wars between nations, but wars conducted by governments and supra-national authorities against various segments of the world’s population.

You may recall my comments from Chapter 1 that we tend to think of biological and/or chemical warfare in simple terms within a simple framework, which tendency leads us to misunderstand much of what happens around us and to mis-categorise many world events. Today, biological warfare acts in many guises and has many objectives, with many categories of perpetrators as well as classifications of intended victims. Biological warfare has long since passed from the military world into the civilian one, a fact that will require experience and contemplation to fully appreciate. The main actor may be a state government, but it can also be an institution like Rockefeller or a major university like Harvard, a corporation like Pfizer, or a UN agency like the WHO or UNICEF. It is not easy to identify all the participants, nor the puppet-master for whom they are ultimately acting. You may want to think about COVID vaccines in this context.
US Domestic Biological/Chemical Weapons Facilities
The facts of Fort Detrick, its dark history, its litany of pathogen leakages, the media and other reports of strange respiratory illnesses surrounding this biological hell, have never been properly addressed and thus many suspicions continue. Among these, in the recent past, are the strange vaping illnesses and deaths and the unusual respiratory ailments and deaths in nursing homes in the vicinity of Fort Detrick. These occurred at the onset of, and were possibly related to, the origins of COVID-19 – which was itself linked to Fort Detrick in many ways, not the least of which was the COVID-like illnesses among the soldiers training there for the Military Games.
The US Army’s 80,000 m² Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick, Maryland (USAMRIID) is the military’s main facility for research on biological warfare. The official narrative tells us these facilities are to develop a defense against bio-warfare agents, and everything they do, remains “within the spirit and letter of the U.N. Biological Weapons Convention of 1972″. As many others have noted, this foolish claim doesn’t even pass the laugh test. By the mid-1980s, the section of Fort Detrick dealing with the genetic engineering of conventional microorganisms into bio-weapons, was receiving nearly $100 million per year, and this was only one of many sections and many institutions. It isn’t widely-known, but Fort Detrick has always been a center for human biological and chemical experimentation on American citizens. Many experiments that tested various biological agents on human subjects, one series referred to as Operation Whitecoat, were carried out at Fort Detrick, beginning in the late 1940s and early 1950s. There is no evidence these experiments have ceased.
America’s biological warfare experiments were at first conducted at Fort Detrick, which was the primary facility for such weapons where, as early as 1935, the US began a massive biological warfare program in which weaponised anthrax was always prominent. The BBC produced an informative documentary on Fort Detrick, titled “Hotel Anthrax”, [4] which details much of the human experimentation done at this infamous location on an unsuspecting American public with anthrax and other lethal bacteria. The program traced the development of America’s offensive bioweapons programs, using declassified documents and evidence from Senate and other investigations. Much of what you will read here about the US military’s domestic bio-terrorism inflicted on American citizens and military personnel, will have had its origin at Fort Detrick. When the Cold War began, the CIA used Fort Detrick to conduct secret mind-control experiments on humans as part of Project MK-ULTRA, that involved unwitting US citizens and prisoners. Under the cloak of “national security” military scientists freely tested unbelievably cruel and illegal procedures on human subjects while searching for a so-called truth serum, to make prisoners reveal secrets. [5] [6]

“In 1954, a prison doctor in Kentucky isolated seven black inmates and fed them “double, triple and quadruple” doses of LSD for 77 days straight. No one knows what became of the victims who most likely died without knowing they were part of the CIA’s highly secretive program to develop ways to control minds. In another, captured North Koreans were given depressant drugs, then dosed with potent stimulants and exposed to intense heat and electroshock while they were in the weakened state of transition. These experiments destroyed many minds and caused an unknown number of deaths. Many of the potions, pills and aerosols administered to victims were created at Detrick.” [7] [8] These were the most gruesome experiments the U.S. government ever conducted on human beings.
“Fort Detrick, still thriving today as the Army’s principal base for biological research and now encompassing nearly 600 buildings on 13,000 acres, was for years the nerve center of the CIA’s hidden chemical and mind control empire. For decades, much of what went on at the base was a closely held secret. Directors of the CIA mind control program MK-ULTRA, which used Detrick as a key base, destroyed most of their records in 1973 when the program was accidentally discovered. Some of its secrets have been revealed in declassified documents, through interviews and as a result of congressional investigations. Together, those sources reveal Detrick’s central role in MK-ULTRA and in the manufacture of poisons intended to kill foreign leaders.”
According to Prof. Francis Boyle who drafted the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989 enacted by the US Congress, the Pentagon is spending enormous sums of money on biological warfare, $14.5 billion in 2001-2004 alone. Another similar facility was created at Porton Down in the UK, where Britain had recruited bioweapons experts from around the world, and which was employed in close cooperation with the US military and the CIA. It was to Porton Down that the CIA outsourced much of their “terminal interrogations”, i.e., torturing victims to death, to avoid discovery and condemnation at home. A major program conducted at Porton Down was the development of genetically-altered diseases that would affect only groups with similar DNA characteristics, meant to be used on mass populations. This was where Dr. David Kelly met a very strange death, with virtually all public opinion that he was killed to prevent his going public. [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] The US military and the CIA also have no shortage of such “odd” deaths that defy logic. I have provided some examples in Chapter 2 of Police State America, Volume 2 – Dealing with Dissidents. [14]
Fort Detrick Shut-Down

In August of 2019, the CDC shut down the US Military’s biological warfare labs at Fort Detrick, due to an apparent absence of safeguards against pathogen leakages. The CDC issued a complete “cease and desist” order to the military, with the facility reopening partially in November, but not fully reopened until April of 2020 – remaining closed for the best part of a year. It was immediately after this event that the ‘e-cigarette’ epidemic arose, along with frequent and unexplained respiratory deaths among residents of nursing homes in the area. The shutdown was first reported by the Frederick News Post, [15] and confirmed by the New York Times with a rather sinister headline: “Deadly Germ Research Is Shut Down at Army Lab Over Safety Concerns“. [16]
Other media reported on the Fort Detrick closure as well: [17] [18] [19] [20]
It will never be possible to know the entire story about the shut-down of Fort Detrick because information is restricted on the grounds of “national security”. However, it is worth noting that the closure was not unprecedented. In 2009, all research at Fort Detrick was suspended when it was discovered that the institution was secretly working with pathogens not listed in its database and unknown to outsiders. [21] Between 2005 and 2012, the latest date for which I have accurate figures, the US CDC received 1,059 “release reports” – an average of one incident every two days involving “theft, loss, release causing an occupational exposure, or release outside of primary biocontainment barriers” of dangerous pathogens.
A Few Ponderables: Why did the CDC shut down the Fort Detrick USAMRIID bio-weapons lab? Was it due, as the media claimed, to a simple “lack of procedure”? Barring massive contamination and/or infections, why was that huge site kept sealed for six months of testing and decontamination before being permitted to only partially resume work? Was the shutdown related to the outbreaks of respiratory illness and the vaping explosion that occurred at the same time? Was the shutdown related to the emergence of COVID in the US, which also occurred shortly after? Why were most English-language news websites suddenly scrubbed of all reference to the closure of Fort Detrick a few months later, when the coronavirus erupted? [22]
Biological Weapons Ordnance Plant at Vigo, Indiana

In addition to Fort Detrick, the US military Biological Weapons Ordnance Plant at Vigo, Indiana, was originally constructed to make conventional weapons [23] but was soon converted to a biological weapons factory. It was a massive production facility that specialised in biological pathogens and weaponry, capable of producing 275,000 bombs containing Botulinum or one million anthrax bombs, per month. [24] [25] The fermenter tanks at Vigo contained 250,000 gallons, or about one million liters, making it by far the largest bacterial mass-production facility in the world. This was not a recent development; Vigo was fully operational during the Second World War, essentially a bio-anthrax factory, one of its first orders being from Winston Churchill in 1944 for 500,000 anthrax bombs, and which Churchill stated should be considered only the “first installment”. Vigo was eventually turned over to Pfizer for “antibiotics manufacture” and was replaced in the mid-1950s by a new state of the art facility at the Pine Bluff Arsenal.
Dugway Proving Ground in Utah
Dugway Proving Ground. Source
The Dugway Proving Ground has been one of America’s most secret military zones, a facility that covers almost 800,000 remote acres in the Salt Lake Desert in Utah. Dugway was established by the US Army in 1942 for the purpose of developing and testing chemical and biological weapons. Many very strange things have happened at Dugway, as you will read later. The residents of Dugway experimented with mosquitoes infected with yellow fever and other pathogens, and were apparently able to produce 130 million infected mosquitoes per month. They also developed aerosol spraying to destroy crops and also to disseminate pathogens such as Q fever – which were widely dispersed around the area.
Dugway Toxins
The Dugway Proving Ground has typically been one of the most dangerous of all domestic US military biological warfare stations, having repeatedly tested Botulinum Toxin, Anthrax, Brucella, Tularemia, Yersinia pestis (Bubonic Plague), and Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis Virus (VEE). Botulinum neurotoxin poses a major bio-weapon threat because of its extreme potency, ease of production and transport. It causes muscles paralyses, respiratory failure and ultimately death if not treated immediately. A single gram of crystalline toxin can kill more than one million people, and can be disseminated in many ways iincluding aerosol or the contamination of water and/ or food supplies. The military has repeatedly experimented with the aerosol dispersement of Botulinum. Leacked documents showed that in 2014 the Department of the Army purchased 100 mg of Botulinum Toxin from Metabiologics for tests at Dugway, as well as unspecified amounts in prior years. Experiments have also been carried out with aerosolized Anthrax.

In addition to these toxins, the Pentagon has invested nearly $100 million in gene editing. DARPA has selected 7 research teams to develop tools for genome engineering in insects, rodents and bacteria under DARPA’s Safe Gene program, using CRISPR-Cas9 technology.
Genetically engineered humans
“Besides gene editing in insects and in the viruses they transmit, the Pentagon wants to engineer humans as well. DARPA Advanced Tools for Mammalian Genome Engineering Project seeks to create a biological platform inside the human body, using it to deliver new genetic information, and thus altering humans at the DNA level. DARPA wants to insert an additional 47th artificial chromosome into human cells. This chromosome will deliver new genes that will be used for engineering the human body. SynPloid Biotek LLC has been awarded two contracts under the program totaling $1.1 million (2015-2016 – $ 100,600 for the first phase of the research; 2015-2017 – $ 999,300 for work which is not specified in the federal contracts registry. The company has only two employees and no previous record on bio-research.”
Inside the top-secret Dugway Proving Ground – Source: The Guardian
In the Dugway Proving Ground in Utah, [26] the US military conducted almost 1,200 open-air tests of munitions filled with lethal chemicals, and documents obtained by the Deseret News revealed that at least 500,000 pounds, nearly 250,000 kilograms, of VX and other lethal nerve gases were released into the atmosphere. The same documents obtained by this news medium revealed that more than 300 open-air biological warfare tests were conducted in this area, using lethal versions of anthrax, botulism, the plague, tularemia, and Q fever. This same area apparently contains one of the largest depots of chemical weapons in the US, storing almost 14,000 tons of chemicals and biological weaponry in more than one million containers.
The Daily News published an article on 24 September 2005 in which it detailed that the US Army was planning to avoid public and Congressional scrutiny by outsourcing the production of its biological weapons material. The military began running ads for bulk purchases of anthrax and other pathogens. [27] A series of contracts had been discovered by Edward Hammond, director of the Sunshine Project, that emanated from the military’s Dugway Proving Ground in Utah. These notices asked various companies to tender for the production of bulk quantities of anthrax, as well as to produce “significant volumes” of other biological agents. One contract specified that the tendering company “must have the ability and be willing to grow [anthrax] in 1,500-litre quantities”, and “must also be able to produce 3,000-litre batches” of unspecified other biological agents. . [28] [29]
When a nation’s military is producing lethal biological pathogens in quantities of millions of liters, it is time to stop pretending we are not engaged in biological warfare. It is of no comfort that the military might claim these to be “harmless” strains of pathogens, since (1) any facility capable of producing benign pathogens can easily produce lethal varieties and (2) there is no such thing as ‘harmless’ anthrax.
There is no material difference between a defensive and an offensive biowarfare program, and even fools cannot claim “self-defense” when producing millions of liters of anthrax. Even the US Government Accountability Office, in its 1994 report on these programs, stated that US military’s Biological Defense Program contained “scores of divisions, departments, research groups, bio-intelligence and more, by no means all related to “‘defense’ in any sense”, and were by nature belligerent and offensive military programs.
This is quite strange. We are assured by honest and responsible authorities that the US military is performing only “innocent medical research”, “has never used biological weapons”, and “would never even think of creating such things”. But these same people are simultaneously tendering contracts for the production of anthrax and other pathogens in multiple batches of thousands of liters.
Horn Island Testing Station in Mississippi
Clarion Ledger on Horn Island. Source
There were other sites and facilities besides Fort Detrick that were constructed by the US military solely for the development of bio-weapons, including the Horn Island Testing Station in Mississippi which was meant to be the primary bio-weapons testing site. [30] [31] A government report by the National Parks Service tells us: “The Chemical Warfare Service Quarantine Station on Horn Island was a project by the US Army to test toxic weapons during WWII. The area was a testing range, where the Army hoped to check the effectiveness of their weapons before using them in combat.” [32]
Plum Island Germ Laboratory in New York State
Strictly off limits to the public, Plum Island is home to virginal beaches, cliffs, forests, ponds — and the deadliest germs that have ever roamed the planet. Source
It isn’t a surprise that Plum island has a dark history as a top-secret biological weapons experimental laboratory, in no small part because this is where the US military located many of its Japanese scientists as part of Operation Paperclip after World War II. One of the few German bio-scientists brought to America, and one of the renowned residents of Plum Island, was Dr. Erich Traub who was the SS chief of biowarfare research at Reims, Germany before his exfiltration to the US, his expertise apparently being the infecting of ticks and mosquitoes with biological pathogens. While this fact is not secret, an important detail always omitted from the historical record is that Traub received all his training at the Rockefeller medical institute in Princeton, New Jersey, where he spent his time on experiments involving anthrax, cholera, hepatitis, and various viruses. Dr. Kurt Blome, another of the top biowarfare researchers at Reims, was captured by the US military who invited him to resume his research and at the notorious military animal lab at Plum Island.
There have also been recurring references to various Japanese bio-warfare specialists from Dr. Ishii’s Unit 731 in China, specifically those who specialised in entomology as weaponry – the use of infected insects to devastate civilian populations. And in fact, the Plum Island facilities specifically include a tick research lab. Our main interest in Plum Island relates to an outbreak of Lyme disease, which many believe originated here, and will be discussed in another Chapter.
Plum Island is located off the coast of Long Island, New York, and is the US military’s main repository for some of the world’s most dangerous animal pathogens intended for research and use as bio-warfare materials. It was first a military base, then turned into a government animal disease laboratory operated by the US Department of Agriculture, then transferred to the Department of Homeland Security. The stated purpose of its life as an animal center was ostensibly to study foot-and-mouth disease in cattle, but when the US Army officially transferred the facility to the “Agriculture Department”, it coincidentally requested Congressional funding of $75 million “to upgrade the facility to a bio-level 4 status for the express purpose of reinstating biowarfare research”. In 2004, Michael C. Carroll published a book titled, “Lab 257: The Disturbing Story of the Government’s Secret Plum Island Germ Laboratory”. [33] [34] [35]
The reason for the funding was that, according to Carroll, in the 1950s the US military planned a project to cripple the Soviet economy by killing horses, cattle, and swine with biological warfare weapons developed from exotic animal diseases. Carroll wrote that “According to Norman Covert, base historian and public information officer at Fort Detrick, only a handful of scientists were aware of this project. “In many cases there were only maybe five people who knew what was going on in weapons research. People in one lab didn’t know what happened in the next lab, and they didn’t ask.””
When Japan invaded China, one of Dr. Ishii’s (unit 731) grand successes was to develop methods of mass-producing fleas and ticks infected with the plague and other lethal pathogens for distribution among civilian populations – which is how the Americans learned to weaponise insects – to breed and disseminate ticks infested with Lyme Disease from their secret Plum Island Germ Laboratory in New York State. This was also the source of the US programs of breeding and disseminating mosquitoes and fleas infected with cholera and Yellow Fever in China and North Korea, to say nothing of the domestic mosquito programs the US inflicted on its own people. This also clearly relates to the outbreak of ZIKA [36] and the further experiments with mosquitoes as “flying syringes” [37] with the power to “vaccinate” entire populations, and which has no defense.
Founded on Ishii’s human research, the US military developed an entomological (insect) warfare facility, and initially prepared plans to attack Russia and the Soviet States with entomological bio-weapons. The Plum Island facility was designed to produce 100 million yellow fever-infected mosquitoes per month, its output tested on unwitting American civilians by dropping infected mosquitoes and other insects over large portions of the US. As is so typical for the US military, these projects beginning in the 1950s and 1960s were given juvenile appellations like “Project Big Buzz” and “Project Big Itch” and “Operation Mayday”, “Operation Dropkick”, which were tests of the feasibility of producing billions of insects, infecting them with lethal pathogens, then loading them into munitions and dispersing them over Russia from aircraft or even missiles. I will discuss these in a later Chapter. From a US Army report from March of 1981, one writer noted that “you can marvel at how much (or how little) it would have cost to launch a yellow fever-infected mosquito attack on a city – with a handy “Cost per Death” chart included.”
One portion of the Plum Island facility was designed exclusively to develop and test lethal animal pathogens that could destroy an enemy nation’s food supply – as the US attempted to do in North Korea. Deadly strains of foot-and-mouth disease were one result of this research, which the Americans later shared with their fellow psychopaths at Porton Down in the UK – who put it to good use, as you will see. Another portion was the development, testing and production of bombs containing what was called a “vegetable killer acid” which could destroy cereals, grains, and most cultivated vegetable crops. I have a strong suspicion that many of the recent bird flu and swine flu epidemics in the US originated from pathogens created at Plum Island.

The textbook titled, Medical Aspects of Biological Warfare (2007), [38] [39] published by the US military’s Surgeon-General, admits to the establishment of “a large-scale production facility in Pine Bluff, Arkansas”, with the new plant featuring “advanced laboratory … measures enabling large-scale fermentation, concentration, storage, and weaponisation of microorganisms”. And it does also admit that by 1951, the US had produced its first biological weapons, anti-crop bombs, and “antipersonnel” munitions, having “weaponised and stockpiled” all these. It adds that the CIA had independently “developed weapons using toxins including cobra venom and saxitoxin for covert operations”, but that unfortunately “all records regarding their development and deployment were destroyed in 1972” when the information became public. [40] [41] [42] [43] [44] [45] Examine the photo below and ask yourself if this looks like “medical research” or “defensive production” of pathogens.

According to the New Yorker Magazine, [46]
“Edgewood was a citadel of secrets. The psychochemical-warfare program was a small part of the over-all research, and in many respects it was the strangest. Once, Ketchum walked into his office and found a barrel the size of an oil drum standing in a corner. No one explained why it was in his office, or who had put it there. After a couple of days, he waited until evening and opened it. Inside, he found dozens of small glass vials, each containing a precisely measured amount of pure LSD; he figured there was enough to make several hundred million people go bonkers – and later calculated the street value of the barrel to be roughly a billion dollars. At the end of the week, the barrel vanished just as mysteriously as it had appeared. No one spoke about it. He never learned what it was for.”
The C.I.A.’s saxitoxin was part of a batch prepared by the Army at the Edgewood Arsenal in Maryland in the 1960s. Dr. Ketchum said it was one of the deadliest poisons known to mankind, but added that because of its value to medical research, “it would be criminal to destroy this material.” [47] Yale Medicine reported in its Fall 1975 issue, “Dr. J. Murdoch Ritchie, Ph.D., D.Sc., Eugene Higgins Professor of Pharmacology, is watching them with considerable concern.” (Intelligence Agency with some dismay) [48] [49]

Few people have any appreciation of the lethality of some of these compounds which were regularly fed to both American servicemen and civilians, sometimes as volunteers, but more often as unwitting participants in what should have been termed ‘Operation Frankenstein”. The New Yorker Magazine article [50] noted that the US military decided to pursue the nerve gas Sarin – which is about 25 times as deadly as cyanide, and also VX – which is about 100 times as deadly as Sarin. The New Yorker noted too that these chemicals are readily made into aerosols and are “virtually impossible to handle without casualties”, which typically include the staff as well as the victims. After one test that released the vapors into the atmosphere, apparently so many birds immediately fell dead that the staff had to climb onto the roof to remove all the carcasses.
I wrote earlier that Big Pharma had been involved from the beginning in the US military’s bio-weapons programs. The New Yorker expanded on this as well, with the information that “Edgewood began reviewing hundreds of chemicals, many provided by pharmaceutical companies. One officer remarked, “The characteristics we are looking for in these agents are in general exactly opposite to what the pharmaceutical firms want in drugs, that is the undesirable side effects.” Starting in 1959, the arsenal aggressively pursued phencyclidine – or PCP – which Parke, Davis & Company had marketed as an anesthetic but abandoned because patients were having hallucinations and delusions.”
NAMRU
There were (and still are) many NAMRU installations (Naval Medical Research Unit/), some of these in the US and others abroad. There were NAMRU-D (Dayton), [51] [52] NAMRU-SA (San Antonio), [53] NAMRU-4, [54] [55] [56] which was at the Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, Illinois. There is little useful information available, but as with the foreign versions, there is cause for concern.
